Understanding the tapestry that consists of countries offering CBI can help us make a decision. In any case, it always helps to understand the particular characteristics of the places that we may call home somewhere along the way.

Dominica citizenship has been relegated to a second plane as other programs made significant changes or improved their conditions and offers. However, the “nature island” is still one of the five eastern Caribbean programs and is ready to receive you at any time.

Living in Dominica can bring many valuable experiences, that is, if you choose to make this place home after getting Dominica citizenship. If relocation is not in your immediate plans, then you may still want to understand the essence of this country and its alternatives. Is Dominica a forgotten paradise in the complex world of citizenship by investment?

Where is Dominica?

Located in the heart of the Caribbean Sea, Dominica is an island country. It is generally considered the northernmost island of the Windward Islands, and sometimes the southernmost island of the Leeward Islands.

Just by seeing where is Dominica, that is, in the intersection of two different zones, we can already understand its nature.

Speaking of nature, Dominica is a true paradise. It is known as the “Natural Isle of the Caribbean” and this nickname has been well earned. If you're looking for the best CBI and considering Dominica citizenship, its natural allure can be what tilts the balance in its favor.

Living in Dominica means you can enjoy these landscapes and activities related to them at any time. If you're planning to visit a few weeks a year, the offer is still there, and it won't disappoint.

Understanding its natural value takes us back to where is Dominica. It's the most volcanic island in the Lesser Antilles and home to volcanic peaks, which create an exceptionally mineral-rich land. You’ll find supreme biodiversity as it has two different types of regions: the xeric scrubs and the moist forests.

Another distinctive aspect of the country is that it's home to the Kalinago community, who were the first inhabitants of these islands in pre-Columbian times. Readers may also know them as Caribs which is the name Christopher Columbus gave them. However, this word has a negative connotation. This is why they prefer to be referred to as Kalinago.

Dominica citizenship: has it lost popularity?

Where is Dominica in the current CBI landscape? We've chosen this article’s heading thinking about Dominica and whether it is a lost paradise when it comes to getting citizenship through investment.

Losing visa-free access to the UK was already a strike to the Dominican citizenship program. Moreover, there were other conditions that didn't help the situation like the MOA and adjustment of prices across the eastern Caribbean countries.

One of the program's most attractive points was its significantly lower cost but this advantage doesn't exist anymore. Saint Lucia, for example, a program that offers three investment pathways, presents a lower investment threshold of $240,000. Grenada, on the other hand, set its threshold at 235,000 while Dominica citizenship stipulated a minimum of $250,000.

It's clear to understand where is Dominica now: the third least expensive option. When it comes to real estate, however, things are different, and Dominica is the cheapest alternative with a threshold of $300,000. The closest one up is Grenada with $320,000.
