Government Agencies in Malta

The Government of Malta is run by the president as the constitutional head of state. The system can be described as a parliamentary representative democratic republic that has to maintain stability over the years.

Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs: This Ministry has the responsibility to manage the international diplomatic missions. In addition, it has the mission to maintain the country’s external relations.

Ministry for Quality Research and Innovation: In this case, this Ministry is a specialized body that implements policies in the fields of technological development, innovation, and research.

Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure, and Capital Projects: The mission of the Ministry is to develop sustainable transport and infrastructure in the country, to enhance the services and transportation of people and goods with innovative projects.

Ministry of Agriculture: The main goal of the Ministry is to ease the sustainable development of the agricultural sector through the country's natural resources, also promoting health and food safety.

Ministry for the Economy and the Industry: The main objective of the Ministry is to promote the transparent economic policy protecting the national best interests. In addition, works for the development of the industrial sector.

Ministry for the Environment, Climate Change and Planning: This Ministry is responsible for environmental matters of the country, developing strategies to address related issues.

Ministry for Energy, Enterprise, and Sustainable Development: This Ministry addresses different areas such as the development of Alternative Energy sources, the water policy, or the Enterprise’s development and support. In addition, is responsible for implementing the Maltese government’s sustainable development policies. 

Ministry for Finance and Employment: Its main objective is to promote the introduction of Programs and policies that promote Malta’s financial health and contribute to sustainability for the future. 

Ministry of Home Affairs, National Security, and Law enforcement: This ministry is responsible for the immigration and borders policy. In addition, manages the national security and law enforcement policy.

Circular Economy Malta Advisory Board: Its main mission is to provide strategic input into Malta's economic policy.

Malta Enterprise: It’s an economic development agency to attract foreign investment and support the existing business.

Malta Maritime Authority: Is the responsible agency for the governance, operation, and regulation of the national ports.

Malta Commerce Department: Its main goal is to facilitate the trade for business while providing the infrastructure to encourage the securing, and respect of intellectual property in Malta

Malta Privatization Unit: The objective of this unit is to conduct the privatization of certain public enterprises in an efficient manner following the government instructions.
