Vanuatu Independence celebration: 44 years of freedom and a special gift
Vanuatu is definitely one of the places you want to consider when searching for a second citizenship. It's well known for its rich culture, secluded location, and flexible tax conditions. Recently the country has celebrated its independence anniversary and Mundo wants to join the celebration to congratulate one of the countries that constitutes a symbol of freedom under today's standards.
Vanuatu Independence Day celebration
It’s been 44 years since Vanuatu hasn’t belonged to any of the French colonies since it secured its independence in 1980. Every July 30th, the celebration takes place, and this year was no exception. Before this, the country was both a French and British colony.
Charlot Salwai is Vanuatu’s Prime Minister, and he congratulated both residents and citizens on Vanuatu Independence Day. Interestingly, Vanuatu has its native citizens, but many have acquired nationality through the CBI programs.
Salwai was present at the Vanuatu independence celebration and acknowledged the citizens’ hard work in building this nation. Besides citizens, he congratulated NGOs, foreign volunteers, and the civil society for their role in the country's development.
A timely gift
For a while, Vanuatu has been presenting drawbacks when printing passports because the old equipment stopped functioning. A nice coincidence was to see the new passport machines arrive very close to Vanuatu Independence Day and Vanuatu independence celebration.
Experts expect the brand-new device to print 1000+ passports a week, representing a significant relief since 7000 passports are still pending.
Independence parade in Vanuatu
The largest parade takes place in the capital city: Port Vila, every 30th of July which is when the country stopped being a French and English colony. It's a colorful show that lives up to Vanuatu’s reputation as a happy place and an island paradise. All citizens carry flags and march together to the brasses coming from the VMF (Vanuatu Mobile Force Brass Band).
On other occasions, the independence parade was even more impressive, for example, for the 40th anniversary in 2020. This year it began from Moorings and kept moving to reach Independence Park. As stated above, the Prime Minister made an appearance. So did the other state ministers and other important guests. An interesting fact is that the country recently voted in favor of a referendum for the first time. This event was celebrated together with Vanuatu Independence Day.
Why Vanuatu?
By now you must wonder why Vanuatu Independence Day should matter to this journal. We are excited to join the Vanuatu independence celebration because of what this country represents. For starters, it’s one of the few countries in the world to offer citizenship by investment, a path to citizenship that constitutes an alternative to traditional methods for legal migration.
Furthermore, Vanuatu has characteristics that make it unique. The ni-Vanuatu are a consolidated community that guards the wisdom of their ancestors. Their peaceful nature has been the foundational stone for a country without grave conflicts. Its secluded location contributes to the island’s charm and provides a solution for those who want to settle down far away from the modern world’s hustle.
Tax exemptions and financial incentives add up to the country's attractiveness, especially for perpetual travelers, nomad capitalists, and international investors. Moreover, the country is versatile when it comes to CBI programs and it has had many, having recently introduced a new one.
